Our Learning through Lunch program is a unique and rewarding opportunity for adult volunteers to showcase career or study pathways, with the aim to build student engagement and confidence.

Event Description
Aim of the event: To grow student confidence in talking with adult role models and build their confidence in new experiences such as eating a fancy 2 course meal. The year 6 students will be doing a tour of the TAFE and will learn about the different study pathways available to them. The volunteers will talk with the students about their own career and study pathways and engage them in conversations. Volunteers will not need to present a talk at this event, it is a really fun and relaxed event and great for a group of volunteers. This is not only an opportunity for them to think about who they may become as an adult, but to also be treated as one.
1 Role model for 5-8 students over lunch.
Grade 6 students from 2 local schools.

Help Good Shepherd Australia and New Zealand achieve our vision that all women, girls and families are safe, well, strong and connected.
Multiple studies in Australia show a clear and unacceptable link between socio-economic status and educational outcomes.
One in three children in our most disadvantaged communities start school developmentally vulnerable - and they continue to fall behind. Good Shepherd Australia and New Zealand, alongside the Department of Education, is working to change this.
We are all co-responsible for protecting children and young people’s right to safety and well-being. We know children have a right to be kept safe at all times, Good Shepherd Australia and New Zealand has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of child abuse. Working with Children check cards are required upon arrival.
